The country of Munros
Height years after a first stay in Scotland, here I am with friends ready to travel back along its winding roads, in the heart of mountains and highlands. On the menu, hiking, visits to castles, whiskey tasting, bagpipes and good laughs.
The choice of hikes was Cornelian as there are lots of possibilities as the ground has shown. Ultimately, we have been limited to reasonable walks, adjective closely related to the current weather. Thus, we have climbed :
- Ben Lomond under strong wind and rain (the Trossachs)
- Bidean nam Bian (3 Munros, 1360m, 6h and nice viewpoints)
- Old Man of Storr (a big rock, hidden in fog and under a wet shower)
- Beinn Ghobhlach (feet in bog, head in fog)
- Ben Hope (summit lost in mist)
- Cairn Gorm (a disappointment beneath a blue sky)
Logistics :
- Airplane + car 300 €/pers (category C for 2 weeks with 2 drivers)
- Accomodation in Bed and Breakfast, most of them good
The route :
Edinburgh Airport - Stirling - Lettermore - Dunvegan - Shieldaig - Ullapool - Durness - Inverness - Drumnadrochit - Edinburgh - Edinburgh Airport
